ENGAGING STEM STUDIES AND MEDICAL CAREER INTERESTS FOR YOUNG WOMEN
Empowering women to become successful through the power of sisterhood
Dealing with the challenges of today requires problem-solvers who bring different perspectives and are willing to take risks. THE SOEUR FOUNDATION emerged out of a pursuit to inspire and support the community, and a desire for actions to speak louder than words.
The Soeur Foundation, (English translation: Sister Foundation) is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening the gender gap in economic development by empowering women to become successful. Women earned 80.5 cents for every $1 earned by men in 2016, according to the most recent U.S. Census data. According to the National Center For Education Statistics, Women account for about 60% of college graduates, but only about 35% of them earn degrees in STEM.
Soeur Foundation’s mentorship programs are designed for young women ages 13-22 to support their academic success in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and math. Soeur mentors are able to connect with the students with scheduled video conferencing or in-person meetings. The goal of the program is to strengthen young women’s confidence in their ability to become successful in traditionally male-dominated career fields.
We provide supplemental workshops and mentorship programs to high performing female students living in low socio-economic areas to increase their interest in STEM academic programs.
